The women of wrestling have often been forced to play secondary roles while the men got all of the camera-time, admiration, and fan attention. One of these women was pioneer Mildred Burke -- who is still an inspiration to women wrestlers everywhere and has a special place in the hearts of Steel Kittens.

In her prime, Mildred Burke was so good that her promoter once had to send the sheriff after a scheduled opponent to force him to come to the ring. When they finally got the guy from behind his counter (he was a short-order cook), he claimed that he couldn't wrestle Mildred because he wasn't wearing any trunks and didn't have any with him. So she took hers off (she was wearing a leotard) and gave them to him, and promptly pinned him in no time flat.
